Health4Life Performance...stay active for longer and really achieve those training goals
The basic training diet:
what you need to know
An athlete's diet should be similar to that recommended to the general population.
It must:
- Provide adequate energy and nutrients to meet the demands of training and exercise
- Include a wide variety of foods to achieve the optimal balance of proteins, fats and carbohydrates
- Enable the individual to achieve optimal body weight and body fat levels for performance
- Promote a quick and full recovery after exercise
- Provide adequate fluids to ensure maximum hydration
- Consider both the short - and long-term health of the individual
Get fit, feel good and look great - a familiar new year's resolution? Yet working up a sweat in the gym proves too much for many and by the end of January the trainers are usually ditched along with the detox…
…Fast forward to Spring. With Summer on its way that picture perfect image of our very own body beautiful is back. But how many of you would rather go to the bar than bare all at the beach? Recalling that demon trainer turning up the speed on the treadmill, or that patronising pilates DVD from the latest weight-loss celebrity is enough to put anyone off exercising.
Don't be too hard on yourself. It's very common to be put off even light exercise if exhaustion is quickly reached. Put simply, this is because we literally run out of fuel. If we set off on a car journey without enough fuel in the tank, we won't reach our destination. The same thing happens if you fill a petrol car with diesel - it won't go far and you will be lucky to escape major engine damage.
Think of your body as a car. It needs the right fuel, in the right amounts, at the right time - or it won't start, is likely to break down, and will cause you a lot of time, money and stress to fix!
Here's the good news. With the right knowledge on what to eat/drink, in what amounts and when, you can arm your body with the fuel to power through your exercise regime, minimise pain AND avoid injuries!
Health4Life Performance is committed to helping YOU get with your programme and feel fantastic—from maintaining basic exercise to intensive athletic training.
Now ask yourself these questions. Is this you?
- Have you recently joined a gym and have no idea what to eat before or after training? Want to know why this is so important?
- Do you want to get lean, build muscle and lose fat to fuel your sport?
- Are you training for a 5k, 10k or marathon and want do more than "just get through it"?
- Are you training for a football/rugby/tennis or other sporting season and need support through grueling training sessions?
- Are you adequately "re-fuelling" after your sport?
- Are you performing under stress and suffering the effects of over training? Can you recognise the signs (inc. sleeplessness, fatigue throughout the day, mood swings, elevated resting and performance heart rates and raised body temperature)?
- Are you in pain during or after training or in the days following?
- Or do you just want to be the top of your game?
If the answer to any of the above is "yes", then Health4Life Performance can help you.
