How did we end up so sick?

Lifestyle-related diseases are fast becoming the big killers of modern times. And healthcare systems across Europe are buckling under the strain of trying to treat all who need them. It's not surprising our health is in this state when the typical daily diet consists of processed convenience foods, snacks on the run and overcooked meals. We end up being overfed and undernourished because this way of life means we just don't get enough vitamins, minerals and plant chemicals to fuel our immune systems. All are essential to regain and maintain health and a feeling of wellbeing. Throw the stresses of modern living into the mix, a lack of exercise and a need to self-medicate or binge on alcohol, caffeine or tobacco, and it's easy to understand why the big killer diseases are hard to fight and on the increase.

The good news is that there's now overwhelming evidence that diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and numerous cancers could be prevented and may even be rapidly reversed, simply by adopting a healthier lifestyle.
